JUNE 25-2014 – 4:45 p.m . – June 26, 2014 – 5:30 p.m. (MDT)

The Natural Hazard Mitigation Association announces the 5th NHMA International Hazard Mitigation Practitioner’s Symposium to which all persons are invited.

PLACE:  The workshop is being held in Broomfield, Colorado but will be broadcast via webinar.  Parties can register to attend the webinar via their personal computers with audio by telephone (regular long distance telephone charges will apply) or by speakers connected to their computer (no telephone charges will apply).

THEME:  The theme of the Symposium is “Hazards Ahead!  All Hands on Deck!”  This is a play on words, implying the notion of all hands and all hazards.  These meanings coalesce in ways that matter to our nation in 2014.  There is urgency to mitigate better.  Our nation’s disaster losses are increasing.  It’s not just one hazard but many.  Climate change adaptation is a monumental task.  Our NHMA theme this year attempts to move hazard mitigation to priority status in public policy but with a focus on all hands, those of us who do the actual work of assessing mitigation needs, finding workable solutions and then implementing them through planned action.  This Symposium is about sharing knowledge to get that job done better, helping practitioners with what they need most. Go to the NHMA website to find the Program Agenda.

REGISTRATION:  View the individual webinars. If you have questions regarding the Symposium, you can call Lincoln Walther at (772) 485-4610 (cell) or Barry Hokanson (847) 612-1557.
