Oklahoma State University Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Emergency Management

The Department of Political Science at Oklahoma State University (www.polsci.okstate.edu) invites applications for a position at the assistant professor or associate professor rank to begin in August 2014.  The area of specialization is emergency management. A Ph.D. in Political Science, Public Administration or related field is expected at the time of the appointment.

Oklahoma State University is one of the state’s two comprehensive research universities with a system-wide student population exceeding 38,000, of whom more than 23,000 are enrolled at its main campus in Stillwater.  The Department of Political Science has 20 full-time faculty members and offers an undergraduate major in political science, undergraduate minors in political science, applied politics, legal studies, and emergency management, an MA in Political Science, an MS in Fire and Emergency Management Administration (FEMA), and a Ph.D. in Fire and Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).  The FEMA program currently enrolls more than 120 graduate students from States across the U.S. and other countries.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for both productive scholarship and effective teaching in the area of emergency management.  OSU provides significant support for scholarly productivity.  The teaching load is normally two courses per semester.  The department encourages applications from women and minorities.
