The Center for the Comparative Study of Metropolitan Growth invites you to join Ray Brescia (Albany Law School), co-editor of Crisis Lawyering: Effective Legal Advocacy in Emergency Situations, along with contributors Carmen Huertas (CUNY Law School), John Travis Marshall (Georgia State Univ. College of Law), Richard Pinner (Local Initiatives Support Corporation), and Eleanor Stein (Albany Law School) as they explore lawyers’ roles in crisis response and attempt to identify and define what it means to engage in the practice of law in crisis situations.
The panel will share their insights from a range of crisis situations, including New York State’s response to the climate crisis, litigating the response to New York City’s homelessness crisis, scaling worker cooperatives as an economic justice tool for communities in crisis, and shepherding communities through long-term recovery from major natural disasters.
