Free Planning Webinar Focuses on Sea Level Rise Adaptation and Local Government
FEMA has partnered with the American Planning Association and the Association of State Floodplain Managers to present the free Planning Information Exchange webinar series. The webinars share best practices and evolving methods in hazard mitigation planning.
The next webinar, “The Law’s the Limit: Sea Level Rise Adaptation and Local Government”, is scheduled for Sept. 3 at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. Climate change and sea-level rise fundamentally alter how we implement planning and policy to avoid flood risks. This webinar focuses on sea level rise, its legal implications and how local communities can adapt.

FEMA’s National Mitigation Planning Program supports state, local, tribal and territory (SLTT) governments with risk-based mitigation planning to reduce or eliminate risks to life and property from natural hazards. The program focuses on building resilience through early and often stakeholder engagement, integration with community planning, and implementation of mitigation actions.
