2010 Workshop
In 2010, NHMA partnered with the University of Colorado’s Natural Hazards Center to sponsor a meeting on forming a new national mitigation collaborative alliance. Presenters from NHMA, NEMA, and FEMA offered their perspectives on forming this new alliance as recommended in NEMA’s recent white paper, “Recommendations for an Effective National Mitigation Effort.” Participants were encouraged to offer their suggestions during facilitated discussions designed to flesh out details of the proposed alliance, its goals/mission, composition, actions, etc. This add-on session took place 13-14 July following the main Natural Hazards Workshop held near Denver, Colorado.
